Does that answer your question?
I do a lot of things, definitely not all at once, and definitely not too frequently, but I have a solid grasp on all of those things, and I can go on for hours about each one of them.
Tattoo
That funky symbol is part of a concept design for a tattoo I'm planning. That specific design was scrapped, but there's so much detail and information drawn into every element of that design that I figured it would be a waste not to share it
- What does it all mean?
I find the design quite neat actually, the design takes heavy inspiration from the game Outer Wilds and the Eye of the Universe.
Let's break down each one of the elements!
Outer Ring
The outer ring comprises two elements, the first being the morse code on the bottom left side. This morse code translates to 'IN MOTION' referring to this song from Profane Sass, which means a good deal to me, not only because of the song but of the artist and their connection to the Bridge City Sinners I would recommend listening to the song, you may connect with it as I have.
The second element is the branches, they're angeled into each other to represent deer, which an animal that I hold near and dear to my heart. The actual branches aren't random, they've been drawn to represent coordinates. You can decipher this by counting the number of branches.
On the top branch, the left most branch is where you start with two branches, of 6, and 3. Then the branches flip sides, citing a different number for 3, and 2. Keep going until you have: 63, 32, 22, 1 This converts to: 63° 32' 22.1" Do the same exact thing for other side, until you end up with 19° 21' 41.3"
- What's the latitude / longitude?
Look at the design, it has a built-in compass pointing to the North-West (or South-East but don't worry about it) That'll lead to a place where this was taken. Which I think is one of my favorite pictures that I've ever taken
Inner Ring / Rays
The inner ring doesn't actually mean much, other than it was used as a placeholder that just kinda is a frame of reference for the rays. Additionally, in later versions of this tattoo, there is the Eye of the Universe coordinates.
The rays are a little difficult, you may think with how they look that it's morse code again.. WRONG
It's actually binary, but with the last three bits cut off. Leaving us with the potential of 31 values. The English language has 26 different letters, you see where this is going? When you convert the binary into it's decimal equivilent, you then find the letter corresponding with that number. A = 1, B = 2, C = 3 and so forth.
For this one, there isn't a clear reference of where you actually start deciphering, which is partially on purpose, but just start at the 12' o-clock position. So let's start decoding!
| 16 | 8 | 4 | 2 | 1 | Letter |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0 | 0 | 0 | 1 | 0 | B |
| 1 | 0 | 0 | 1 | 0 | R |
| 0 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 1 | E |
| 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 1 | A |
| 0 | 1 | 0 | 1 | 1 | K |
| and so forth... |
It should be mentioned that this design actually uses the reverse rays, which means you read them going from the out-most to the inner circle. Which is stupid, and in all newer versions is going from the inner-circle outwards
In all versions, the decoded text is different, because I'm quite picky on what I want represented.
